Spain’s Partido Animalista, also known by its initials at PACMA (Partido Animalista Contra el Maltrato Animal), has called for a national anti-bullfighting protest march in Madrid’s Puerta del Sol plaza on Sunday Saturday 10th September in order to “abolish” once and for all the cruelty to bulls in the various forms of bullfighting, bull-running and bull-baiting events and festivals across Spain.

The call for the protest rally in Madrid follows the national and international outcry over the video released last month by PACMA showing a young bull calf being baited, stabbed and killed by local men during a village festival in Valmojado, in the province of Toledo, Castilla-La Mancha (see video, below).

PACMA has launched a campaign called “Mission Abolition” that it says it hopes will result in convincing local, regional and national lawmakers across Spain to bow to increasing public opinion and ban cruelty to bulls in festival events. Sunday’s march will begin in Puerta del Sol at 17:00 hours and the organizers say they hope it will be the largest anti-bullfighting demonstration ever to be held in Spain.
