• Marchers will demand an end to ‘closed borders’ policy toward refugees •
More than 25 marches are planned in cities across Spain at noon on Saturday, Feb. 27th, demanding European governments negotiate a workable solution to the ongoing refugees crisis and provide “Safe Passage” for refugees seeking resettlement in European countries and cities that have pledged to help with their relocation.
The marches in Spain are part of a wider movement across Europe that will see demonstrations and activities in 65 cities in 17 different countries, all demanding an end to the current “closed borders” policies in Europe and calling for urgent action to resolve the refugees crisis that in the first two months of 2015 alone has seen more than 75,000 people arrive to European shores in search of shelter and asylum.
Thousands are expected to participate under the banner of #SafePassage (#PasajeSeguro) for refugees and asylum seekers, with marches planned from Alicante to Pamplona, Valencia to Sevilla, Barcelona, Madrid, Bilbao and beyond.
