Amnistía Internacional España, the affiliate in Spain of global human-rights campaigning organization Amnesty International, has announced a 10.3 km bicycle solidarity event on Saturday 29th April in Madrid to denounce ongoing human rights violations in Syria and demand justice and reparation for victims of rights abuses during the six-year-long war in Syria.

Amnistía is calling on all those cyclists who want to show solidarity with Syrian victims of rights abuses by the Syrian regime and the mass incarceration and executions of Syrian civilians by the government to turn out with their bikes at the corner of Claudio Moyano and Paseo del Prado by noon on Saturday to participate in the 1 1/2 hour cycle through the streets of Madrid.

In a report issued in February, Amnesty International documented the detention in inhumane conditions of thousands of civilians who oppose the Syrian regime in the military prison of Saydnaya, 30 kilometers north of Damascus, where it estimates that from 2011-2015 as many as 13,000 opponents of the government were summarily executed by hanging without any trial.

At the Madrid bike ride on Saturday, Amnesty volunteers will be collecting signatures to request access to Syrian government detention centers like Saydnaya and urge the international community to end the horror of Syrian prisons and to bring justice to the victims of Syrian government atrocities and rights abuses.
